In Outremont, this basement renovation reimagines an underused space as an intimate retreat that channels the allure of a modern speakeasy while remaining effortlessly family-friendly.
The client’s vision—a moody yet inviting atmosphere—comes to life through deep blue walls that cocoon the space in warmth and sophistication. Layered textures, soft lighting, and warm materials set a relaxed tone, while a custom bar and glass-enclosed wine cellar anchor the design in conviviality. A cozy lounge doubles as the perfect spot for the kids to host movie nights with friends, and a cleverly integrated Murphy bed, concealed within a built-in bookcase, transforms the room into a welcoming guest suite when needed. In the adjoining bathroom, a steam shower and refined finishes extend the indulgent mood, balancing luxury with practicality. The result is a space that feels both hidden and elevated—a sanctuary of saturated colour, craftsmanship, and quiet comfort tucked beneath the heart of the home.
