Located on the western tip of the island of Montreal in Quebec, this brutalist waterfront home was in need of a major update. The owners fell in love with the home's magnificent sunsets, but the 1970s decor simply didn't suit their lifestyle. They needed a more sophisticated home with modern conveniences. The result is a sleek, elegant interior.

Designer Valérie Morisset revamped this 1970s home to infuse it with a style that's both contemporary and timeless. Josée and Steve bought this 5000 sq. ft. home in 2019. They asked Valérie Morisset to bring it up to date. "They fell in love with the lot on the shores of Lake of Two Mountains, but the house required a lot of renovation," says the designer, who had already completed several projects for the owners. This time, she worked in collaboration with Steve, who orchestrated the work of the subcontractors. Rooted in the 1970s, the residence included an indoor pool and was very poorly divided. "We redid everything. Even the windows were redesigned, as they were out of proportion with the rest. We played with symmetry to make them fit better into the space." White and light wood replaced the once ubiquitous burgundy hue to create a light, soothing ambience throughout.
