Interior designer, art consultant, editor and stylist, Valérie Morisset is known for her editorial work producing and styling more than 200 features for major design magazines including Canadian House & Home and Maison & Demeure.
Following academic training in interior design, Valérie studied Art History at UQAM and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. This gave her a deep knowledge of decorative arts and domestic architecture.
Known for her artistic eye, Valérie draws inspiration from nature, travels and the people she meets. Her influences range from her native Canadian roots to summers spent in Switzerland as a teenager and her dreams of Morocco’s majestic Atlas Mountains. The work of design icons such as Philip Johnson, Adolf Loos and Eileen Gray are inscribed in her mind.
In her interiors, she aims to create depth and personality with a combination of vintage finds, interesting layers, distinctive details and a perfect balance between contrasting styles, periods and cultures. Though her work is focused on the realm of interiors, Valérie’s training as an art historian is evident in her gracious embrace of historic elements. She never goes against the essence of a home; she elevates it and makes certain to preserve its architectural integrity.
Each of her projects reveal her ethos: that design is a tête-à-tête between styles, colours, objects and people.
